THE COLD-PROTECTION GAMECHANGER?
We say YES! Down has decisive advantages over synthetic fibers, e.g. in thermal performance and wearing comfort – that’s why most “real” expedition coats are made from down. Unfortunately, most down coats don’t handle MOISTURE very well – one of the main reasons (besides price) why synthetic fillings dominate in the tactical sector.
But if you now manage to make “real” down completely weatherproof, effectively eliminate cold bridges, and combine it with a truly groundbreaking 3-layer membrane – then you get a TAIKA COAT – which, by the way, means “magic” in Finnish!
The TAIKA is lightweight, flexible, and agile – not a super monster for –30 °C, but rather an all-rounder for temperatures around freezing to single-digit sub-zero levels and fits into any backpack. It defies snow, rain, and icy wind and still offers a superb wearing climate – ideal for Central European winters or the Lapland autumn and spring.
WHAT MAKES THE TAIKA COAT SO SPECIAL?
TACDown
Thin and midweight down coats with classic baffles often show “cold bridges” at the seams where warmth escapes. Since TACDown is a patented roll material made from real down, we eliminate these cold bridges. Simply put: warmer at less weight! TACDown also offers improved moisture management and dries much faster than traditional down.
Actibreath 37.5® membrane
With a water column of 20,000 mm and breathability beyond 20,000 g/m²/24h, we ensure perfect moisture management even during intense activities. The membrane is also equipped with 37.5® technology with activated carbon, resulting in a “heavenly” wearing climate.
EMPEL – long-lasting DWR
To ensure a waterproof membrane works optimally, the outer fabric must not soak with water – hence regular re-impregnation (DWR) is needed. With EMPEL, this becomes unnecessary: it’s a patented technology that delivers “permanent” DWR functionality.
ROBUST AND LIGHTWEIGHT
The ripstop nylon outer shell is extremely abrasion-resistant – ideal for contact with rocks, branches, or gear. The AMS Airflow ventilation system allows you to release excess heat as needed – which is invaluable in changeable weather.
WHO IS THIS PRODUCT FOR?
With its temperature range and material mix, the TAIKA is a true all-round companion from autumn to spring! The TAIKA was made for active people who want (or need) to be ready for virtually any weather – that’s why we created such a perfect microclimate with extended breathability!
We explicitly recommend this coat not only for professionals in tactical/military environments, but also for bushcraft, wilderness trekking, dog sports, and mountain activities – especially if you don’t want to look like a parrot!
Noise-sensitive hunters should note that, for practical reasons, this coat does not have a brushed surface. In our opinion, however, the coat’s sound profile is absolutely suitable for hunting.

Washing and Care Instructions
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Wild products use high-quality YKK zippers. The most common cause of zipper damage is a failure to follow the washing instructions, or the zipper being caught in something that causes a high strain on the slider. The strain stretches the slider's jaws wider and the zipper will no longer interlock when closed.
Washing in too hot water exposes the zipper to temperatures that weaken the zipper material, making it prone to breaking. The worst thing for the zipper is a machine spin cycle which twists and beats the zipper and can break it.
Overalls and jackets must be washed with the zippers open.
