We say YES! Down has decisive advantages over synthetic fibers, such as thermal performance and wearing comfort – that’s why most “real” expedition jackets are made of down. Unfortunately, most down jackets don’t handle MOISTURE very well – one of the main reasons (besides price) why synthetic fillings are primarily used in the tactical sector!

If you now try to make “real” down uncompromisingly “weatherproof”, effectively eliminate “cold bridges” and combine it with a truly groundbreaking 3-layer membrane, you get a TAIKA JACKET – which, by the way, means “magic” in Finnish!

The TAIKA is light, flexible, and agile – not a super monster for –30°C, but rather an all-rounder for temperatures around freezing to single-digit minus degrees and fits in any backpack. It handles snow, rain, and icy wind with ease while offering a great wearing climate! Just right for Central European winters or the autumn/spring in Lapland.

WHAT MAKES THE TAIKA JACKET SPECIAL?

TACDown
Thin and midweight traditionally baffled down jackets often show “cold bridges” at the seams where warmth escapes. Since TACDown is a patented roll material made from real down, we eliminate these cold bridges. Simply put: warmer with less weight! Additionally, TACDown offers better moisture management and dries significantly faster than traditional down.

Actibreath 37.5® Membrane
With a water column of 20,000 mm and breathability beyond >20,000 g/m²/24h, we ensure perfect moisture regulation even during sweaty activities. The membrane also features 37.5® technology with activated carbon, creating a “heavenly” microclimate!

EMPEL – durable DWR
For a waterproof membrane to work optimally, the outer fabric must not absorb water – this is why it is usually re-impregnated (DWR). With EMPEL, this becomes unnecessary in practice, as it is a patented technology that ensures “permanent” DWR functionality!

ROBUST AND LIGHTWEIGHT
The ripstop nylon outer shell is extremely abrasion-resistant – ideal for contact with rocks, branches, or equipment. The AMS Airflow ventilation system allows you to release excess heat as needed, which is especially valuable in changing weather conditions.

We explicitly recommend this jacket not only for professional users in the tactical-military environment but also for bushcraft, wilderness trekking, dog sports, and mountain sports – especially if you don’t want to look as colorful as a hummingbird!

For sound-sensitive hunters: please note that the jacket does not have a brushed surface for practical reasons. However, in our opinion, the sound profile of the jacket is absolutely “suitable for hunting”!
