The gear, explained

The layer most people get wrong

A great jacket over a bad mid-layer still leaves you cold. The mid-layer is what actually holds your heat — our fleece is the one we reach for under a down jacket or a shell, warm without bulk and soft enough to wear alone in the cabin. Get this layer right and the whole system works.

Common questions

Why does the mid-layer matter so much?

It traps the warm air your body makes; the shell just keeps weather out. A thin or damp mid-layer wastes a good jacket. Our fleece is built to hold heat and breathe as you move.

Can I wear the fleece on its own?

Yes — our fleece is warm and finished enough to wear alone on milder days, and it slides under a shell or coat when it drops. That's the point of a good mid-layer.

How should the fleece fit under a jacket?

Close but not tight — it should trap air without bunching. Take your normal size; the jackets are already cut to fit a fleece underneath.
